Rite of passage

It's a day I've been expecting for a while now, especially as Brody becomes more adventurous and moving faster.  I thought it would come from him barreling down our steep driveway on his scooter, but instead it came on a swingset, surrounded by the people he loves the most...his cousins.  Brody's first broken arm.

You can see it's really getting his spirits down.

#14

This morning Brody made his soccer debut as #14 on the Demolishers (AKA "Rhett's Team").  It was so much fun to watch him play with his friends from school and church. Brody was the new kid on the team, but he went for it wholeheartedly and when he slowed down he had a BIG cheerleading section to get him back in the game.

Did he score a goal?  YOU BET!!!

GO BRODY!!!  We are so proud of you!!!

Happy 4th Birthday Brody!

Today I realize that time flies...
just like our son buzzing by on his bike or scooter.

Yesterday Brody said, "Mommy, today is the last day that I will be three."  When did our little baby turn into a boy who can think such creative and thoughtful concepts?  He is a big boy with a big heart who has completely captivated Nathan and me.

Happy Birthday, Brody.  We love you.

Halloween Scrapbook

Halloween 2011 was full of celebration. Brody loved every minute of Captain Hook time. We loved seeing all of our favorite kids in their adorable costumes. Now can someone please come over and take all this candy out of the house?

back in session

Brody is back to school today! This year brings even more curriculum, including Spanish on Mondays and chapel on Wednesdays. Brody was so excited to see his friends again after the summer break. We cannot wait to see how he grows as the year goes on.

Colorado Scrapbook

This year was one of our favorite visits to LoLo & Pop's cabin in Colorado. Brody was able to spend special time with his grandparents and cousins. We fished, threw rocks in the creek, rode a horse (named Cleo), went rafting, rode a ski lift, ate at some of our family's favorite restaurants and more! Whew! Believe it or not, it actually was relaxing. And a wonderful escape from a busy summer. We are already counting the days to our next trip.

Fourth of July in the Mountains

This year we spent Fourth of July weekend with a LOT of my family in Red River, New Mexico. It was a wonderful holiday filled with family celebration, cool(er) weather, sun and rain (the good kind)! Brody is a mountain man at heart. He could spend endless hours throwing rocks into the river and filling his pockets with all kinds of messy treasures.

Popsicles in the pool!

We are doing all we can to keep cool these days, and yesterday that meant ice-cold popsicles and pool time with some good friends.

when I grow up...(part 2)

Brody's list of potential future vocations is growing! These were taken in our driveway yesterday. Brody told me that when he grows up he would like to be a construction worker and build us a new driveway.

Here is a little more detail about his last career path!
