Easter 2011

Easter this year has been so fun. Since Brody is three, he is beginning to to try and understand what the holiday is really all about. He knows it is about Jesus, and his version goes something like this...some bad guys killed Jesus and then put him in a cave behind a big rock. Then God brought Jesus back to life because he loves Jesus and loves us.

Not bad, right?

This year we celebrated with LoLo & Pop, Aunt Hayley & Uncle Casey, Clare, Syd, and Jane. AND Graham is just about here! The cousins loved their Easter Egg hunt and continued to hide and find the eggs all morning.

Oh, and Brody wants everyone to know that bunnies don't lay eggs.

Happy Easter everyone!

When I grow up...

Lately Brody has been talking about being a pilot when he grows up. I am trying to take comfort in that being the reason he has been wearing his "gobbles" non-stop for the past two days. He wore them shopping yesterday and told everyone they helped him see at night, underwater, and in caves.

a little party

This weekend Brody had a family birthday celebration. After weeks of being indoors, it was so fun to have a gorgeous day and lots of fun with grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Snow daze...

Remember when snow days were fun??? After our fourth straight day of ice and snow...no school...no playdates...no going outside or running off steam, THIS is how we all felt about yet another "snow day!"

At least Brody and Daddy were able to spend part of the afternoon making a snow friend! For a Texan, Daddy builds a GREAT snowman!

Yippee...Brody is THREE!!!

Brody is three today! He is such a happy, funny boy. He plays so hard, but loves so sweetly. Nathan and I love him SO MUCH!

Brody was going to going to get a bike for his special day, but our street looks like this. It's a sheet of ice. Actually reminds us of the day he was born!

Anyone care for a dip?

Since we couldn't make the bike work, I made a late-night trip to the toy store yesterday and got a more indoor appropriate gift!

Tiny Toys

Brody is a shockingly organized toddler. I walked into the living room today and he had precisely placed each of his tiny toys into the divets of our couch. I tried to move one and he quickly replaced the empty space. It is so funny to try and imagine what kids are thinking.

Mamma and Memphis (TX)

This weekend we went to visit Brody's great-grandmother, Mamma in Memphis, Texas. Memphis is a small farming town in the panhandle. Right now the cotton is being harvested. We had a wonderful weekend with great weather, lots of special activities that we don't do in the city, and the best time with Mamma!

we never knew cotton looked like this!

Brody got to ride in this cotton "stripping" tractor

he loved it, of course, and it is HUGE

Finally Fall!

The temperatures have finally started to come down around here, so like everyone else, we've been spending a lot of time outside! Here are a few recent pictures of our time back in the fresh air.

Arbuckle Wilderness

This morning we headed out to Arbuckle Wilderness, a safari style, drive-through zoo. All three of us had a wonderful wildlife adventure.

Brody was well-prepared for the trip, with snacks and his favorite tunes.

A friendly emu peeks in our car.

Brody has been ready to see these giraffes all week.

This tortoise peeked out of his house to see us.

A HUNGRY ostrich.

First Day of School

Today was Brody's first day of preschool. Brody has been looking forward to the start of school for months and he woke up with eager excitement. He loves his teacher, Ms. Miriam (Brody pronounces it Ma-mee-mam). After school he told us all about the fun he had, including taking a nap with all his new friends.

Here is a little glimpse of our morning.

Colorado 2010

Our family is so fortunate to be able to take an annual trip to the Colorado mountains to visit LoLo and Pop. As Brody grows, every year is more fun. When everything works out perfectly, we are able to coordinate our timing with Brody's cousins (Clare, Sydney & Jane). This is the stuff memories are made of!!!
